Privacy Policy for Sonarly

Last Updated: June 18, 2026

Introduction

Sonarly (“we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information Sonarly uses, how that information is processed, and your rights regarding your data.

Sonarly is an iOS application that measures a user’s pulse using the device’s camera and flash to generate personalized ambient soundscapes.

Information We Use

Camera and Flash Access

Sonarly requires access to your device’s rear camera and flash to measure pulse rhythm using photoplethysmography (PPG), an optical technique that detects changes in blood flow through a fingertip placed over the camera lens.

The camera is used solely for pulse measurement and soundscape generation. Camera frames are processed locally on your device and are not used to identify you.

Heart Rate Data

Sonarly measures your heart rate (beats per minute, or BPM) to generate personalized soundscapes.

Heart rate data is processed entirely on your device. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or otherwise receive your heart rate information.

Saved Soundscapes

When you choose to save a soundscape, Sonarly stores the soundscape locally on your device.

Saved soundscapes include the measured heart rate (BPM) associated with that soundscape. This information remains on your device and is never transmitted to us.

Diagnostic Information Submitted Through Feedback

If you choose to use the optional “Send Feedback” feature, Sonarly may include:

This information is transmitted only when you choose to submit feedback.

How Information Is Used

The information described above is used to:

Data Storage

Camera frames used during pulse measurement are processed in real time and are not stored.

Saved soundscapes and their associated BPM values are stored locally on your device.

We do not maintain a server that stores your heart rate measurements, soundscapes, or biometric information.

Data Sharing

We do not sell personal information.

We do not share heart rate measurements, camera data, or saved soundscapes with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics providers.

Information submitted through the optional feedback feature may be processed by service providers that help us receive and manage feedback submissions.

Third-Party Services

Sonarly does not include third-party advertising SDKs.

Sonarly does not use third-party analytics SDKs to track user behavior.

The optional feedback mechanism may utilize third-party services to receive user-submitted feedback.

Children’s Privacy

Sonarly is intended for use by parents and caregivers.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Security

Because heart rate measurements and soundscapes remain on your device, most information processed by Sonarly never leaves your device.

We take reasonable measures to protect any information voluntarily submitted through the feedback feature.

Your Rights

You may:
